Since 1972 the core values of professional conduct, tradition, brotherhood and the love of God, family and country have been the influence of nearly sixty members.  Sherrills Ford – Terrell Fire & Rescue exists to serve the resident’s of the district with dedication to saving lives, protecting property and respecting natural resources.

Responding to calls for nearly 14,000 residents in an area of over 45 square miles with nearly 100 miles of shoreline, this department relies heavily on volunteers and paid staff.  With the growth that has been seen recently and projected in southeast Catawba County, call volume will only increase.  In response, the department has seen fit to hire more paid staff and build new buildings.

Starting July 1st 2008, SFTFR began providing new coverage to residents living off of Burris Road, and additional areas off of Slanting Bridge Road, Grassy Creek, NC HWY 150 and NC HWY 16.  For the last 50 years, these areas enjoyed the coverage provided by Denver Fire Department, but now that is our responsibility.  In taking this responsibility, SFTFR has hired 6 new full time engineers, purchased 2 new Pierce Custom PUCs and started building a new facility.  (Currently, residents off of Burris Road are covered by a temporary station manned 24 hrs per day.)  We currently staff 4 bases with a full time engineer 24/7.
