The fire department covers a fire district that is 32.64 square miles and features 36 linear miles of shoreline on Lake Norman. The population of the fire district is now over 10,500 people, which converts to around 320 people per square mile. At this time, the Denver Volunteer Fire Department employs 22 full-time, 20 part-time and 14 volunteer firefighters and EMTs.

The fire department’s main station is located on North Highway 16 and the fire department also has two strategically placed substations within the fire district. The fire department also stages its fire boat on Webbs Chapel Church Road, for lake related responses.

The fire department responds to over 1,200 emergency calls per year and the amount of calls are not slowing down from year to year.  With property values in the district ring in at over $1.8 billion, the sign of growth is not slowing down either.  

The fire department’s eight (8) member board of directors and  management staff continue to watch the growth and elevating emergency calls to ensure that the fire department stays proactive and not reactive.  

The fire department’s apparatus fleet of 5 Engines, 1 Tower Ladder, 1 Heavy Rescue, 3 Trucks, 1 28ft 1,500gpm Fire Boat and multiple other support vehicles are used daily to help protect the citizens within the fire district.
