PROCESS FOR THOSE SEEKING TO RUN FOR A POSITION ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
STEP 1. All interested parties shall obtain an application packet after March 1st.. Application packets may be picked up from the Office Manager at the SFTFR headquarters station at 4011 Slanting Bridge Road, by contacting a current member of the Board of Directors, or by downloading the forms on the SFTFR website. (https://sftfr.net).
STEP 2. Each candidate shall then complete the application and attachments in full. Note: The criminal history “Release Authorization Form” once completed shall be placed in a marked sealed envelope and attached to the application. The completed application documents must be delivered in person to (a) the Board Chairman or (b) to him/her via a Board officer or a nominating committee person; or (c) to the SFTFR Office Manager at the Headquarters Station, no later than 5 PM , May 1. Applications or nominations made or received after this date will not be considered.
STEP 3. The Nominating Committee will carefully review and assess all applications and will certify those persons being eligible. A public records background check which is performed by a professional outside contractor will be conducted. Upon completion of this process a slate of nominees will be prepared by May 6TH and will be posted on the SFTFR website. All applicants will be notified via email or telephone of their status.
STEP 4. An applicant is required to attend at least one regularly scheduled Board of Director business meeting prior to May 1. Meetings are held at the Headquarters Station 4011 Slanting Bridge Road on the second Monday of each month at 630 PM. No prior arrangements need to be made in order to attend.
STEP 5. Elections will be conducted during the Annual Meeting, held on the second Monday in June, 6:30PM at the SFTFR headquarters station 4011 Slanting Bridge Road. Any Corporate member in attendance may cast a vote. A candidate running for a position need not be present to run. Those persons elected will take their seats immediately.
